As quoted by Mr. Sem Sovantha, AAD’s President, with only $39,332.80 USD /year then the school will be open for 300 students again in September 2013.
The wooden 2 classroom school was built on August 2010, with a generous support from Ms. Margaret Dawbarn in Australia, fulfilled the long wish of residence in Andong Chan village. It is located in a remote area, 95km from the city of Siem Reap, and about 5km from a main road. Here is no running water, electricity, health center neither government school.
In 2010, there were over 200 children of the school age who have never attended a formal language class. Most of their parents are also lack of formal education themselves.
The school consists of 2 classrooms had provided primary school programs for the needy children for over 2 years until 2012 when Ms. Margaret Dawbarn passed away and the funding was ended.
Reopen the school is the urgent need for this severe underdeveloped village.
Expanding the school to 2 more classrooms is a bigger wish of all: Parents of over 300 would be students and AAD as well.
